Mirage Mirror And Glass was always on the forefront of shower door design and installation. When “frameless” shower enclosures were first launched, all fixed panels were secured using U channel at the base and wall sections. This was the “standard”. As time went on, the industry evolved into using more frameless components, such as clamps (aka. “clips”), and mechanically fastened components; Creating a more frameless look (see our Mila Page). However, this more “fully” frameless look came at an increased price point. And since everyone deserves luxury, Mirage had branded these two style glass enclosures as two different types.

Our standard frameless features installation using U channel (aluminum construction), wall mounted hinges (standard duty) and slip fit components (if design required).
Why is the standard more affordable?
The biggest factor is using the U channel versus the clips. Unlike clips, U channel does not require the glass to be fabricated to be secured. Glass is simply installed into the channel. In addition, using U channel also allows glass to be cut in a more “forgiving” fashion. Out of square conditions can often be eliminated- therefore installation is less lengthy, and costs for processing out of square conditions are also removed. Combined with the fact that the aluminum U channel is considerably less expensive than brass construction clips. All of these factors contribute to a noticeable price difference.
